I believe South Pasadena Patch will be a great addition to South Pas. The editor Sonia Narang is an ace reporter herself and has assembled a team of great local writers. I'm writing a weekly column there as well as covering one historical story a month for the history section. There are journalists from the Times who are contributing as well as a variety of other San Gabriel Valley bloggers, writers and reporters. I wrote on my blog that these aren't outsiders looking in, they are insiders reaching out. Every city needs a variety of news sources and media outlets. I believe Patch sites will benefit communities and complement existing news sources. Will each one be as good as I believe South Pas Patch is going to be? That depends on each editor. (We happen to have an exceptional one.) As for Tim's AMAZING blog in Altadena, I think Altadena Patch will be another great source of news and information, but nothing can take the place of Tim's voice and place in the Altadena community. I wouldn't be surprised if Tim's blog was featured in a story at Patch, actually. The Ostrich Feeder is a part of South Pas. I agree with Tim... take a break but please be back soon. I do hope, however, that you succeed as Chief, and that you will exercise independence from the Council in running the Department.
